Billings, Mt To Hardin, Mt

July 10, 2010
55 miles

We slept in today because we had a little shorter ride, 55 miles. Nancy had said on previous trips the Hardin Rd. could be tough if it is hot and there are head winds. However, today we were lucky again because it was cooler than normal and we had wonderful tailwinds. Nancy and Ken told us that we had the best weather conditions on any trip. It was wonderful.

We all left Billings together because we were not sure of the route out of town. Once we reached the Hardin Road it was partially cloudy with a tail wind. We first had to climb a fairly steep hill but then the ride was sweet. Total tail winds with perfect conditions.

Half way along the road we had our lunch stop near two loan trees. The surrounding area was filled with prairie grass.

We arrived in Hardin at 12:30 p.m. about an hour before we could check in. Five us went into the conference room at the hotel to blog before we could get into our rooms.

We were trying to hire someone to take us to the Little Big Horn Battlefield about 17 miles away. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anyone who could drive about 7 of us up there. There was a pool at the hotel with a large slide. Nancy and Kim went in for a swim.

Later in the evening we went to pizza place for dinner. Afterwards we walked to get an ice cream at Dairy Queen before returning to the hotel.

Porcupine roadkill, sorry old guy!
