Frankfort, MI to Columbus, MI

August 7, 2010
82 miles

This was another day where we had a lot of miles to cover. Tom, Ed, and I left the hotel in Frankenmuth around 7:30 a.m. I almost missed the first turn (Branch Run) as it came up sooner than I expected. Tom pointed out the road and we then turned east toward Otter Creek. This area was a little hillier than we had experienced in the rest of MI.

Our lunch stop was in a park in Brown City. We didn't stay there too long as we still had many miles to cover. The road to Capac was busy but when we got there a store was having a grand opening and giving out free drinks and hot dogs.

The rest of the ride was a little hard with some head winds. Tom and I arrived at the church in Columbus at 3:00 p.m. which is basically out in a corn field. We had to wait about an hour to get in as a wedding was going on when we first showed up. Some of the church members prepared a great dinner for us.

John and Lesa joined us and will be riding with us for the rest of the tour.

(P.S thanks to Susie R. for sending chocolate covered huckleberries for the group. We all loved them.)

Should I trade in my bike for this one?
