Spring Time In Sonoma County

April 12, 2010

I have added a number of items to my Roubaix in the last couple of weeks. First I bought a Specialized "Dirt Bag" that attaches to the seat. In it I store two tubes, a mini Allen tool set, patch kit and Powerbar. Also, added (temporarily) are the Crud fenders. I will take them off and only use them in bad weather. Moreover, I placed one bottle cage on and I am trying to determine where I can easily place the other without interfering with my pump.

While in Oregon I went to REI and purchased a NorthFace Rolling Duffle and a 2 1/2 inch air mattress. I saved a lot as I did not have to pay sales tax in Oregon.

More modifications will come, of course. This will be an on going thing as most tourers find what works and what doesn't.

Last week we finally had very good weather. This week, things changed back to the wet stuff that has been very common this "El Nino" year.

I have taken off the kickstand because I was hitting it with my left heel. I then reattached it when I moved it back. I don't know if it will still get in the way of my pedal stroke. It is nice to have a stand but I will not let it at all interfere with my peddling.
Couldn't get any better riding conditions. Along the Marshall/Petaluma Road.

Looking Southwest to Tamales Bay.

Bohemian Hwy heading toward Occidental.
