40 Miles
First Night at the Fauntaloy Church in Seattle. Bikes Ready To Go
First Meeting Going over instruction on Ride out of Seattle
This was the first day of the official tour. We left the Fauntleroy Church at 8 a.m. and dipped our rear wheels into the water at Puget Sound.

Looking North to Downtown Seattle
The whole group followed Nancy on a bike trail to south Seattle and took a few pictures. All of us rode over the South Seattle Bridge into downtown Seattle right next to Pike Street Market area. The weather was overcast but very good for cycling. It was misty in a few spots but we didn't get too wet. After making our way through downtown we went into the Fremont section where there was a fair going on. Nearby we stopped to look at the troll/sculpture under the bridge.

Next we rode several miles on the Burke-Gillman trail past the University of Wash. There were three nude cyclists celebrating the summer solstice.

Then we rode to Bothel heading toward Woodinville. In downtown Woodinville the group stopped and had lunch at a Mexican restaurant and then headed to the last hill on today's route.
The ride up to the church in Woodinville was on a relatively steep street out of town. At the church a man and woman prepared a pasta dinner for us. Later that evening the man, who is a cyclist gave a presentation on bicycle safety called "vehicular cycling."
We found a number of rooms where we could lay our sleeping bags down for the night.

Seems like we already knew each other, but the ride was just beginning.
